In order to test the efficiency and efficacy of Shiva Kawach, the technology was subjected to real time test situations in various demonstrations in tandem with field formations of the Indian Army as well as controlled explosions at Terminal Blast Research Laboratories, the testing and certifying arm of DRDO.
Following the National Award in 2012, the Ministry of Home Affairs released a few non armoured (TATA 1212) trucks to further check the capability of Shiva Kawach.
Various such tests (and incremental developments) during the subsequent years culminated in a live animal test being conducted at TBRL in 2019 where live animals (rats & rabbits) were placed in the carriage area of a (TATA 1212) truck. The carriage area of such vehicles which generally ferry our jawans is at a height of 1200 mm from the ground. A 10 Kg TNT charge was placed flush with the ground under the carriage area of the truck (to simulate real time IED explosion) and detonated after conforming to well laid out procedures.
The floor of the truck had been secured with Shiva Kawach securely installed at the underbelly of the floorboard so as to be the line of defence between the explosive and the live animals.
Shiva Kawach effectively & incontrovertibly deflected a major force of the blast away from intended target (live animals) and kept them out of harm’s way even though a significant explosion had gone off at only 1200 mm distance.

Additionally to verify the claims and capabilities of Shiva Kawach to the floorboard of the vehicle, a 10 Kg TNT charge was detonated at a standoff of 1.2 meters from a 3 mm MS plate held firmly in place in a special facility at TBRL in what is called a rigid wall test.
Two tests, one with Shiva Kawach installed and the other unprotected (control test), were conducted with similar charge, similar orientation of charge and similar standoff.
