Mr. Adess Singh and Mr. Rajandeep Singh Tiwana are the founders of Mercurial Research Technologies Pvt Ltd that aims at protecting our soldiers & equipment exposed at close proximity to high intensity blasts.
Shockwaves from explosive blast are typically a very rapidly rising pressure wave moving at supersonic speed. In fact, it is like the spearhead of the blast.
When high explosive detonates under a vehicle or at close standoff, complete destruction and fatal outcome are certain. When an explosive buried in the ground detonates, it releases about 40% of its energy as shockwave which moves at supersonic speed. This shockwave is the lead energy of the explosion which causes most severe damage.
Due to the supersonic speed of the shockwave, currently deployed mitigation systems fail to completely protect life and equipment because, by the time the systems get activated, the shockwave has passed through and done the damage.
At present, there is no protection system (effective at close distances) that can demonstrates protection from blast especially on living beings.
The blast mitigation solution, Shiva Kawach developed by Adess and Rajan has the unique ability of not only slowing down the shockwave but also deflecting its lethal momentum and energy away from the target.
It is for this that the developed solution,Shiva Kawachpreforms successfully in real blasts.
Therefore “Removing The Spearhead” succinctly describes the design philosophy of Shiva Kawach.
The innovation successfully blunts the devastating effects of a blast.
In order to test the efficiency and efficacy of Shiva Kawach, we put the technology to actual tests by creating real life situations on the field observed by Indian Army and DRDO.
Shiva Kawach can protect our soldiers from the force of high explosive blasts at very short distances. Such possibility simply did not exist earlier.
There are two outstanding features of Shiva Kawach:
– Low or negligible weight and volume penalty.
– Its ability to greatly reduce speed of shockwaves and deflect their energy away from the intended target.
